The TMI tag

I have been thinking about doing this kind of video for quite some time, but I just can not get myself to do it. I don't know if it is because it's an "oldish" video- I mean so many people have done it, but it is just not happening. Maybe it is because I like to elaborate and can't only give yes, no or straight forward answers. It's a curse. I am sure it.

BUT, wait for it...here is another thing you did not know about me. I LOVE quizes, questionares, random questions, tmi's, you name it. I can not help myself. When I was at school we use to have this random questions we would write down on a paper and give it to friends and not-friends to answer to get to know each other. I LOVED it. I think it's got something to do with the fact that I like the idea that someone cares about my silly answers, or maybe it is purely for entertainment. But yah, I am a sucker when it comes to this stuff.

In the past week we received, well I did, a few questionnaires from people working at the university conducting research for their PHD and ect. I couldn't help it. I answered all of them ss accurately as I could (I hope I did not mess up any data though...).

So, now you know a random, useless fact about me. The End.

I am kidding.

I am going to do the TMI tag (as seen on YouTube), but I will be writing it down. And believe me, I am going to enjoy this thoroughly.

So here we go!

I am wearing black three quarter tights (the most comfiest) from Woolworths and a tee with a lot of Eiffel Tours on it from Edgars.

2. Ever been in love?

We went on holiday for 2-3 weeks and visited places like Namibia, Kruger National Park, Addo, Oudtshoorn and a few others. I saw places I would never seen if it wasn't for my dad. And I loved those times. It's special memories and I miss it. Of course also the holidays we did not go away and we would spend hours playing Monopoly and building houses with the double bunk bed we had. That's what memories are made off.

Seeing in HD and spoiled rotton!

Well, Hello there!

What have you been up to the weekend? My husband came home on Sunday from his trip to Leeds, UK. We spent the whole day together and I did not do anything else, including my blog. But, here I am and this means that you will have two to read this week! How lovely.

If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you would have seen that I was spoiled by my hubby and received my new pair of glasses. And I absolutely LOVE my new specs!

I don’t know about you, but getting a new pair of glasses is both really exciting, but at the same time nerve wrecking. You see, my Diabetes influences my sight when my blood glucose levels go up and down.

While I was sitting there I notice she removed her glasses. My first thought is “oh hell no, how are you going to see if mine is OK?”, but I remember my friend used to work at an optometrist and they usually wore glasses just for the fashion and of course for marketing purposes. Relax now. Phew. Well, I hope it is only a fashion statement...

So, sitting in that chair all intimidated by this thing staring back at you and the optometrist asking you questions is nerve wrecking. It goes like this:

O   : Number 1 or number 2”
Me : (You make me want to number 1 my pants) Uh..I am not sure...uh
O   : Let’s try again “this one or this one”
Me : (Oh the pressure is on, in more than 1 way)I think...uh...both....
O    : She chips in..“this one or that one”
Me : Oh yah, no this one is way better

Then it goes on like this for what feels like a looong time (it was just 15minutes) and then she turns some nobs on this freakish gazillion eyed monster and then it’s like ”Oh hello HD! I haven’t seen you there. Whoa, wait girl the numbers don’t have to get to the back of my eyes”.

Choosing the frame was the easiest part. Believe or not, but this woman knows her stuff. She picked up 4 and after what felt like 1 minute I was ready to leave and wait patiently for my new specs to arrive.

Any way. I was quite impressed with how quickly I got the SMS notifying me of collection. Well done.

I really truly love my new glasses:

I am going to redecorate our home a little bit after the move (that is a whole other story on its own. I will tell you about it later). We were browsing Mr Price Home in Mooirivier Mall and I totally went crazy..in HD off course because I was wearing my new glasses and everything is just so pretty and the pastel colors and the zig-zag chevron patterns. Oh my word! Pay day!!!! Where are you?!

I saw this pillow and my husband saw my face and he tells me, you can have it. It is just so darn cute and seeing that we are two “nerds” (I mean this loosely because no one is ever a nerd!) now, this just totally fits!

Look at it!

I am TOTALLY a scholar! hahaha

Of course I got some prezzies from the UK. He spoiled me rotton with a bag full of Lush products. It is for Christmas though so I need to hide it so that I don’t use it! it just smells so darn good!

My poor husbands walked A LOT to search for Coca-Cola Cherry (the diet one). He found it at the airport on his way back and bought 6 bottles. BUT he forgot a rule. He bought it before he went through security thus he had to leave 4 bottles behind (I am SURE someone is enjoying my coke). I got two and that is better than none. MAN, I just LOVE diet cherry coke!

Well, to get back to the moving and re-decorating. We are moving, yes. I will post a blog after all this is done. Hopefully I will be able to give you some tips to help you when you have to move someday.

For now this is it.

Please leave a comment below and tell me your specs stories! I would LOVE to hear from you.

The Trusted recipe.. Epic failed by Elré {You can do it}

Good mooorning my fellow web people!

I hope you are doing mighty fine.

I like being adventurous and trying new things. I am also very good at EPIC failing, especially when it comes to baking.. I love baking.. I really do.

So, I love a good 'ol banana bread. I have never baked one before and it was a scarce thing in my childhood. It was usually reserved for birthdays and functions...at other people's house or the church market…or maybe because it is layered with sugar. But 1 piece won't kill me, no, it won’t.

My friend's grandma has a trusted banana bread recipe. A few years ago she compiled a recipe book with all the favourites in it (mainly consisting of  her mom's and grandparents TRUSTED recipe's). I got one too (well, I made myself one-we share you know).  So, we are using the trusted recipe.

Now that I think of it. I always try new things before a small or big event. Why would I do that? We have our Bible study group tonight and last night this episode happened because I want to impress everyone by my baking skills. Bless their souls for being my "subjects". (I'm joking!! I will never feed anyone anything I won't eat. Promise)

So the first photo that went live was this one...

Oh yeah, we are SO ready for this. I mean I have enough ingredients to bake two breads. And I can even freeze the one (by the way it freezes really well).

All went well until I opened the stove after the first 45minutes..I should have taken a picture. It looked and smelled so yummy and a bright pink ring pan just completes the picture. Now to get it OUT of the pan..

I tried just lifting it out 'cause it’s supposed to be "loose" from the sides. Nope..that didn't work, so I flipped it over..Carefully. Still doesn't want to budge...Flip it back..Oh crap.

The outside is so nice and brown and shiny and the inside was left on the plate I just used to flip it on...

Now you can imagine, a sleep deprived individual, missing her husband who is gallivanting in England (O-KAY, not really because he is actually doing research) and can't keep the craving for banana bread under anymore, seeing this picture...I was not a happy sweetie. I put it back in the oven on my friends suggestion and left it there just for the inside to stop running... and this was my lovely end product.

This picture did not go live until the second batch was ready...

But no, this did not stop me. Well I couldn't stop now seeing that the second batch was mixed before I removed this one from the oven...

I approached this differently. Well, through tear struck eyes, runny mascara  (yes I am a BIG cry baby)  and total tiredness ( I blame this for the tears), I split the mix into my little trusty bread pan and a muffin pan.

After another 45 minutes, silently praying, I approached my oven with caution. I think I stopped breathing for a few minutes seeing that I was getting dizzy. Or maybe that was just the sleep deprivation...
All brown, crispy and smelling divine! Now THIS I wanted to share. My first thought was THANK GOODNESS our friends will have something to eat!

So after this whole adventure this is the final picture that went LIVE!

Have I learned anything? Probably not. I will most probably get this awesome idea again to try something before an event.

My friend gave me the go-ahead to share the recipe with you. *This will follow below*.

Leave me a comment of what your worst baking fail was!

I am missing Mauritius

Hey guys!

I hope you are doing well. I was a bit busy over the weekend and trying to decide what I am going to share with you. Lately I have really been missing Mauritius. I had the privilege to visit this beautiful island twice and my heart is longing to go back.

Last year March, my husband and I went for our 2nd anniversary and we stayed at the 4* Tamassa hotel (It is part of the LUX group). We had an awesome time and I even picked up a nice caramel skin colour! hehe Sunbathing, eating, swimming, reading, what more do you want! AND the coconut ice cream...there is no word! It's little like little fairies moon walking on your tongue!

Just a little review. I LOVE the LUX hotels. The whole feel of this hotel group is light and crisp and the rooms just makes you feel "floaty". White with bright pink, green and even some orange. Some of the hotels have a few perks too (like ice cream and massages on the beach, but that is a story for another day). We really enjoyed this hotel and the beach is beautiful! We went snorkeling and took a catamaran cruise (unfortunately the weather didn't play along, BUT we still had a  great time).

Definitely a 4/5 for me. I would  recommend this hotel for sure. The rooms are spacious, clean, fresh, the staff is so helpful and friendly. They really make you feel at home away from home. The food is well prepared, but the problem with resort's restaurants, in general, are that it gets really boring after a few days. Maybe spice it up with some hamburgers! hehehe The only downside is the Spa is really pricey. We would have love to go for a treatment or two, but we had to pass. Maybe next time!

When are we going back!?

1000 What?!

Hellooo there!

WOW, I am amazed!

I woke up on Saturday (that is now yesterday), thinking gosh I don't know which I shall do first, my CD- or book review? I haven't done either before and was quite nervous so I researched "how to blah blah blah" . I found some lovely tips, sat down, opened my blogger and saw this: 1005 page views. Wait, what?

I totally lost it (in a good way), called my husband, showed it to him numerous times and exclaimed in pure excitement "It's doing better than my YouTube channel"! That makes my heart happy. Although I LOVE my channel, my blog is my little nr 1.

For two the whole day I just tried to get my head around the whole 1000 thing. Now, I can hear you say "there are billions of people and it's only 1000", but THAT little math fact does not matter to me. What matters to me is that I started a blog because I love writing and thought if I reach 5 people that is ok. And today my page is at a 1000 views.

Ok, ok I get it. More than 1 person view it numerous times, but THAT my dear friend is ALSO something to take note of because that means, they come back! I must be doing something write, hey?

So today I just want to say "Thank YOU", my cyber friend, wherever you are, for reading my blog. It means a LOT to me to think that you take time out of your day to sit down and read this. It really makes my heart happy.

I am not going to ramble on and bore you. This I feel is enough. A thank you note to YOU!

So, I am off. Here is my awkward cyber hug *HuuuuuuUUUUGGG*!

Have an awesome week!
