Exploring Roberston-Camping at Rivierzicht

Hi there!

This weekend I had the privilege to visit Rivierzicht, just outside of Roberston. It's an 1h45min drive from Cape Town and when you pass through the Huguenot tunnel, it is like entering a different world.

It is situated on the banks of the Breederivier and this in itself will provide hours of fun. Swimming, boating, fishing or even just hanging onto a "tjoep" (or lilo) is at the order of the day. You are allowed to bring your own boat, swimming equipment and even your dog. The rule is only that when you bring your dog he must not fight with the local resident dog. He is such a sweety and very sociable.

We went camping, but they have cabins and bush camps available too.

You can go skydiving, horse riding, golfing, wine tasting, rivers cruising (on a floating restaurant) or take one of the many walking trials.

The bathroom tickled my fascination as it is "open air". Don't worry, nobody will see you, but you will feel the breeze when you are in the shower.

It is a quiet and now and then, if you are fast, you will see a fish dive out of the water and splash back again. On the weekend we also saw on occasion the boat pass by with passengers enjoying a breakfast on board. My parents went on the cruise and had a lot of fun and even skipped lunch after eating way to much.

There is enough to do for a family get-away and I had a lot of fun relaxing next to the river and of course taking pictures like a tourist!
